With its abundant sunshine and beaches, it’s no surprise that Florida cities are almost always in the list of top places to retire in the U.S. In an article published Oct. 19, 2021 by CNBC, Florida holds 8 out of the 10 tops places. Closest to home, Ft. Myers ranked #7 and Naples ranked #2.  

Among the criteria for the rankings are housing affordability, health care, taxes, the job market, and quality of life in the 150 most populated U.S. metro areas. 

Below are a few statistics for Naples and Ft. Myers.

Median home price: $345,000

Median monthly rent: $1,317

Unemployment rate: 7%

#7 Fort Myers, Florida

Metro population: 737,468

Median home price: $277,900

Median monthly rent: $1,154

Unemployment rate: 7.4%
