Unlike many FL cities to our north, Fort Myers and the Beaches are below the frost line. This creates a unique sub-tropical climate in which many species of tropical fruits, palm trees, orchids, and unique wildlife thrive. FUN FACT: With an average annual temperature of 74° F, residents enjoy the great outdoors every day of the year.

Waterfront Living! Fishing, boating, sailing, sunset cruises, and exploring secluded beaches are common activities for many local homeowners. Southwest Florida offers an abundance of communities with gulf front, bayfront, riverfront, and canal front properties. FUN FACT: With over 400 miles of canals, Cape Coral is the World’s largest network of navigable waterways.

Beaches, Parks, Fishing & Boating! Over 50 miles of beaches stretch along Florida’s Gulf coast from Boca Grande to Bonita Springs. Fishing & Boating in the Gulf of Mexico is an angler’s dream. With more than 50 species of fish, avid anglers enjoy catching Tarpon, Snook, Grouper, Red Fish, Trout, & Snapper in the Gulf of Mexico. Abundant public beaches, parks, and boat ramps make a day by the sea or on the water a common Southwest Florida pastime. FUN FACT: The sport of tarpon fishing originated in Southwest Florida’s Pine Island Sound in the late 1880s.

Major League Baseball: In Southwest Florida, the arrival of Spring doesn’t depend on a Groundhog’s shadow. Our Spring begins when professional baseball players report for Spring Training. In March, baseball fans from all over the country flock to Fort Myers to watch the Boston Red Sox at Jet Blue Park and the Minnesota Twins at Hammond Stadium. Baseball continues at Hammond Stadium from April-September with the Fort Myers Miracle, a class-A affiliate of the Twins.

Golf: With close to 100 golf courses, local residents tee up year-round as Southwest Florida is a golfer’s paradise. Our area offers a vast array of golf communities with home styles, amenities, and membership opportunities.

Tennis & Pickle Ball: Whether you play competitively or just for fun, Southwest Florida has a place for you. Many communities throughout our area are equipped with state-of-the-art courts. SWFL tennis clubs are available for all ages and skill levels to participate in group activities, tournaments, clinics, or private lessons.

Hockey & More: Germain Arena is home to the Florida Everblades, an ECHL Professional Hockey Team. Their season runs from October thru early April. Germain Arena also offers ice skating and hockey lessons for all ages.

Rich History, Arts & Culture! Fort Myers’ Historic River District is infused with high energy 7 days a week. Stylish boutiques, exquisite dining, art galleries, and historic buildings are the backdrop for the popular “Art Walk” and “Music Walk” monthly events featuring an array of local artists and musicians. With music and theater available at Barbara B. Mann, Broadway Palms Dinner Theater and the Herb Strauss Theater, SWFL concerts and musical productions can be enjoyed all year. FUN FACT: Both Henry Ford and Thomas Edison selected Fort Myers for the Winter Estates. Both historic landmark homes offer daily tours.

Cycling, Running & Walking! Cycling, Running & Walking can be enjoyed by all. Several clubs organize activities to keep SWFL residents active 24/7. Miles of paths traverse several parks making exercising outdoors easily accessible. FUN FACT: Sanibel Island earned the Silver Award for one of America’s Most Bike-Friendly Communities.

Shopping! Shop inside or out with ease as Southwest Florida’s malls, boutiques, and outlets offer entertainment for the whole family. Bell Tower, Gulf Coast Town Center, and the Shops in Coconut Point boast national brands, trendy boutiques, abundant dining selections, and movie theaters. Miromar Outlet and Tanger Outlets also offer fabulous selections and great prices. FUN FACT: Most Southwest Florida outdoor shopping malls are pet-friendly. Many stores have water bowls to accommodate your four-legged friends.
