Sanibel Historical Museum 40th Anniversary Gala
LAST UPDATED: 19 February 2024

Sanibel Historical Museum & Village Anniversary Gala

Celebrating 40 years of preserving Sanibel's rich history, they will debut the new documentary Wreckage, Resilience & Recovery: The History of Hurricanes on Sanibel & Captiva, by the award-winning journalist Ken Sneeden. Also joining the evening will be Robert Van Winkle, Rob Duns, and Zach Maloch. All three are local meteorologists with tremendous weather expertise.

It is interesting to note that Sneeden was working on this documentary prior to Hurricane Ian making landfall on September 28th, 2022.

Many remember Robert Van Winkle as our weather expert guiding us through Charley, Wilma and Irma, but no one expected the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.

There will also be another history lesson as they highlight gladiolus since the city of Fort Myers use to be the largest supplier of gladiolus flowers worldwide.

Pfeifer Realty Group is proud to support this very worthy cause as we hope to preserve our island history for future generations. If you have questions about this event or how to get involved with the Historical Village, call 239-472-4648.

It's no secret that Pfeifer Realty Group loves preserving island history. Over the years they produced 5 Sanibel Captiva historical documentaries with the late David E. Carter during which nearly 1,000 historical vintage photos were scanned into the Sanibel Public Library as the Pfeifer Vintage Photo Collection.

Below are some photos from the Pfeifer collection showing 3 of the 9 buildings being relocated to the Historical Village.
