Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville Fort Myers Beach
LAST UPDATED: 20 August 2021

One particular harbor in Southwest Florida is about to have a big change in appearance. Groundbreaking began on Aug. 13, 2021, for construction on the much-anticipated Ft. Myers Beach Margaritaville Beach Resort with completion targeted for 2023.

This Ft. Myers Margaritaville Beach Resort will be no shack on the beach. Spreading over six acres, it will feature luxury high-end furnishings and private suites as well as their signature selections of dining, water sports and activities, spa treatments, shopping, and enjoyment of the surrounding area. There will be no shortage of things to do and see in and around the resort.

This will be the 25th Margaritaville, inspired by the singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffet, who embraced the tropical lifestyle while staying with his close friend and fellow musician, Jerry Jeff Walker, in Miami back in the early 1970s. Buffet established his first Margaritaville retail store in Key West, Florida in 1985, expanding later into the Cheeseburger in Paradise Restaurants and the Landshark Bar & Grills. The first Margaritaville Resort opened in Pensacola, Florida, in 2010.

Buffet continues to entertain his millions of fans, and he has given back to communities through his charitable foundation, Singing For Change, which has disbursed almost $11 million in grants for deserving organizations and people since its conception in 1995.

Now that your heart is warmed by Buffet’s philanthropy, soon you can go warm your toes in the sand, have a margarita, and though Margaritaville takes pride in offering fine dining, it is ok to ask for a cheeseburger. After all, you are in paradise. Maybe you’ll even catch a glimpse of Jimmy himself.
