When Should Home Buyers Transfer Utilities?

Ideally, buyers should begin arranging utility service approximately two weeks before closing. Some providers require deposits, identification, account verification or advance scheduling.

Coordinate Service Dates With the Seller

Ask your real estate agent to coordinate with the listing agent so the seller does not disconnect essential services before the buyer's account becomes active.
