Captiva Civic Association
LAST UPDATED: 16 November 2021

Founded in 1936 and incorporated in 1959, The Captiva Civic Association's (CCA) mission is to preserve the quality of life and environmental integrity of Captiva and its neighboring islands. Social activities, classes, and lectures give people a chance to come together and be part of the community.

Membership helps support the Civic Center's operations including the Hall, the Captiva Memorial Library, the Captiva Historical Society, and the beautiful courtyard that serves as a gallery and event space. The Civic Center is also designed to be a shelter in case of severe storms, and is the only voting location on Captiva.

During the season, CCA holds many events. Their main fundraiser is the Annual ABC Gala. ABC stands for Attic, Basement, Closet which dates back to a time when Captivans would donate items after spring cleaning to be sold at a giant tag sale to benefit their "community house" the Civic Center. This event has grown to become an island favorite where attendees enjoy dinner, a live auction, great fun, and community networking.

Wine Tasting and Food Pairings also occur several times in Season featuring local flavors, incredible themed wine tastings, and a sommelier on hand to educate wine enthusiasts.

Events occur almost weekly from Nov. - April each year. Please visit the CCA website for a schedule of events. Supporters also enjoy CCA's Porch and Patio Music and Social events where guests mix and mingle over cocktails and music.

The CCA Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit and uses a portion of its fundraisers to give grants and scholarships to the community. They are managed by an executive director and guided by an elected Board of Governors.
