Buntrock Medals in FL Senior Games State Championships
Bob Buntrock, organizer of the Sanibel 8-Ball Pool League, won two medals in the Florida Senior Games State Championships hosted this year from December 3 through 11 by Polk County and the Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing Bureau.
Buntrock won a gold medal and a silver medal in the Billiards category. His first place honors came in 8-Ball Doubles. He won his silver medal in 9-Ball and also placed fourth in 8-Ball. Buntrock competed in the 80-84 age bracket.
More than 500 athletes age 50 and older participated in the Games. Contestants competed in Archery, Badminton, Basketball (3 on 3), Basketball Shooting, Billiards, Bowling, Cycling, Golf, Pickleball, Powerlifting, Racquetball, Road Race & 5K Roadwalk, Shuffleboard, Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Track & Field & 1500 Racewalk, and Volleyball.
The state-wide event is sponsored by the Florida Sports Foundation and the Florida Charitable Sports Foundation headquartered in Tallahassee. Next year’s state championships are again scheduled for Polk County with most of the events being staged in Lakeland between Tampa and Orlando.
